TOKYO, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo 2020 organizing committee announced here on Friday that a male employee has tested positive for COVID-19.
A Tokyo 2020 statement said that the man in his 20s, employed at a Tokyo 2020 office in Harumi in Tokyo's Chuo ward, became the sixth recorded case of infection within the organization.
The employee has not been to her office since her last working day on-site on October 12.
It was also the second positive case in the organizing committee in 10 days.
Japan on Thursday confirmed about 700 new coronavirus infections, including 284 from Tokyo. The Japanese capital confirmed 184 new cases on Friday, over 100 for a fourth straight day.
