WELLINGTON -- A driver of a school bus was dead and 40 people including six children were injured after the bus collided with the back of a passing train on Wednesday near Palmerston North in New Zealand's North Island.

The female bus driver who died in the crash, heading to the Feilding High School, was trying to cross the train tracks when her bus hit the back of the train at about 8 a.m. local time at a railway-road intersection. (New Zealand-Train-Bus-Crash)

TOKYO -- The outgoing Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's cabinet resigned en masse Wednesday morning, marking an end to Abe's record-long tenure of nearly eight years.

Yoshihide Suga, the new leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), is set to take office as Japan's new prime minister later Wednesday after the parliament formally elects him as the new premier.
