TOKYO, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Wednesday, tracking gains on Wall Street overnight, with reports of positive results of an experimental U.S. coronavirus vaccine adding support.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 299.16 points, or 1.32 percent, from Tuesday to 22,886.17.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 19.14 points, or 1.22 percent, at 1,584.29.

Mining, iron and steel, and marine transportation issues comprised early notably advancers.
