TOKYO, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Tuesday morning as a comparatively firm yen against the U.S. dollar prompted investors to secure profits following the market's winning streak over the last three days.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 126.71 points, or 0.56 percent, from Monday to 22,587.73.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 7.61 points, or 0.48 percent, at 1,569.54.

Iron and steel, pharmaceutical, and bank-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
