TOKYO, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Friday morning, as investors were prompted to secure recent profits following the market's four-day winning streak.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 78.97 points, or 0.35 percent, from Thursday to 22,616.77.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 5.31 points, or 0.33 percent, at 1,598.51.

Precision instrument, retail and pharmaceutical-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
