NEW YORK, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.49 percent to 107.865 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.0435 U.S. dollars from 1.0493 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound declined to 1.2443 dollars from 1.2490 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 155.53 Japanese yen, higher than 154.55 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.9040 Swiss francs from 0.9014 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.4396 Canadian dollars from 1.4377 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 10.9899 Swedish Kronor from 10.9362 Swedish Kronor.
