MEHTARLAM/HERAT, Afghanistan -- Afghan police have arrested four people on the charge of drug smuggling in Laghman Province and in Herat Province, provincial authorities said Monday.

According to the statement of the provincial police headquarters of Laghman, the alleged smugglers in Laghman were attempting to sell the contraband to drug addicts in different parts of the country, but police identified them on Sunday and took them into custody for further investigations.
